American Vampire reads like two comics, one placed in 1925 and the other placed in 1880. The most fascinating aspect of this dual nature is the shared characters in each timeline. There are only two characters in the comic that are shared between the two points, the first is Skinner Sweet, a swarthy outlaw from the wild west, and the narrator Will Bunting, the author who has scrawled the tale.
I recently rediscovered my desire to read comic books. In keeping with that I also discovered that anything that interests me becomes a weird addiction. With comics, it is this urge to collect.
This issue picks up with Jessica Drew falling from the top of a building while remembering that she cannot fly without her suit on. And the action continues from there.
Seldom does a comic resound so powerfully within a single issue. Daytripper #1 is an non-judging look at the life of an obscure writer named Bras on his birthday.
The issue consists of WAY too much dialog, and not enough cowboy, ninja, viking trash whooping. Personally, I have no problem with dialog, in fact I welcome it, when it’s good.
May I please begin by saying that “the brothers Luna” are very lucky to have such a cool last name. If they were werewolves or astronomers or astronauts it would be even more perfect. I feel silly that I am without a crafty way to tie it in to their profession as comic creators.
He is placed in a holding cell by the local constable where he is tormented by the brutes already in custody. They deliver a multitude of swirlies to him junior high style. And he gets to taste all the nonsense left in the toilet bowl, YUCK.
Bomb Queen is a heinous woman with a hot body and an appetite for lascivious behavior. She has defeated every hero that has crossed her path and now spends her days bullying the City Government and collecting tribute money.
I Have Issues is a comic book review on the previous week’s new releases. SPOILER WARNING: if you haven’t read your books yet, read no further. These reviews will be posted a few days after comic book release day to give you time to read them so that you can throw your two cents in about what you thought of these books.
