As some of you may know I have retired and moved to Tennessee from Florida. It’s definitely been a lifestyle change, mostly for the better, and I thought I’d share my impressions of Tennessee, the lifestyle here, and the day to day goings on that make my life what it currently is. First thing is being retired is interesting.

There are stages in human life. In the bygone days, especially during youth, life seems to be full of pleasures without much responsibility. During those days the mind could think about creating some laughable stock. It helps in later life to revive cheerful spirits and maintain humor in life. Bill Hicks was a renowned stand-up comedian (notably), philosopher (arguably), and satirist (indubitably). He became famous for his ribald language and off-color subject matter. He has influenced the vast majority of famous and noteworthy comedians with acerbic styles in the past decade and a half. Hicks died of pancreatic cancer, which had metastasized to his liver, in 1994 at age 32.

Bill Hicks began complaining of pains in the side of his abdomen while touring in Australia in April 1993. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on June 16th, and began receiving weekly chemotherapy. He still toured during this time, and recorded his album Arizona Bay, named after the giddy flight of fancy in his act about Los Angeles being swallowed by the Pacific Ocean.
